Dinosaur Coffee
Scandinavian calm, a fin above the counter, and a flat white worth the corner.
Curator’s note
Michelle and Ben Hantoot opened Dinosaur Coffee in December 2014 after a year building out a former audio-repair shop on Sunset, and hired MASS Architecture to hang a modern Stegosaurus skeleton over a bar clad in scale-shaped tile. In October 2020 they sold it to Janine and Saadat Awan of Woodcat Coffee in Echo Park, longtime regulars who kept the room and the name and switched the beans to their own roast.
Espresso and steamed milk with burnt-sugar syrup and a touch of rose; reviewers note it reads sweet, not floral, despite the rose.
Sugar Bloom Bakery croissant; Corner's own 'what to get' pairs it directly with the Burnt Sugar Latte, and a separate reviewer called it 'a star.'
The coffee
Woodcat Coffee, the Awans' Echo Park roastery, supplies both sister cafes from one shared lineup: a house espresso blend built for the bar plus a rotating set of single origins bought through named producers the roaster now visits at origin, including a 2024 Honduras trip. Four Barrel Coffee, the San Francisco roaster under the shop's original owners, hasn't been served here since the 2020 sale.
Espresso is San Francisco's Four Barrel, pulled to a consistent standard by the Woodcat owners now running the shop.
Bar work is friendly and consistent under a Stegosaurus skeleton and scale-shaped tile — a room that photographs better than it postures.

The room
MASS Architecture and Design built the café into a former audio-repair shop and kept that industrial DNA in the bones. A modern Stegosaurus skeleton hangs over a bar wrapped in scale-shaped tile, with curved plywood ribs running across the ceiling. Blonde wood and light walls set off a red espresso machine, and a small back patio stays quiet even with Sunset traffic out front. There's still no wifi, same as under the shop's original owners; regulars just borrow the McDonald's next door.
