Flo Coffee Bar

The bar belongs to Gabe Venegas, who started in coffee in 2005. The garage lasted a month before permitting closed it, and he spent the eight months it stayed shut working at Hooked in Venice, then opened it again.

One filter coffee on at a time, beside six house signatures and a matcha with its origin named.

Espresso comes from California roasters a week at a time, most recently an Ethiopia Guji from Provecho in San Diego. Filter is a single origin, one at a time, and it changes with the bag.

The signatures are built rather than flavored: the Nico is iced coffee under a barrel aged maple cream top with cocoa powder, the Scarlett is blood orange and cardamom, the Hampton is vanilla and sage. The matcha gets a card of its own, Kettl's Hinata from Hoshinomura in Yame, a first harvest blend milled in the Fukuoka mountains.
