The Press Espresso

DeShun and Yasmine Wooten met in college over photography and fashion design, and coffee arrived as a flourish: specialty drinks they mixed for couples who came in to talk about their wedding pictures. The flourish took over, and the drinks still get built like they expect to be photographed.

Roasting happens in this building on a Loring and a San Franciscan, and the espresso comes through a Modbar. The buying list runs micro lots from Colombia, El Salvador and Ethiopia, one of them off a local resident's family farm, and the retail bags go further, naming a Panama Elida Estate and a Colombia El Obraje Gesha down to the farm with no roast date on any of them.

A large scale mural runs the owners' history across the wall in the abstract, paired with a poem, and the color around it is loud on purpose. Most of the fixtures and the furniture were built by hand, by the two of them and by makers they know, so nothing in this suite came out of a catalog.
