Better Buzz Coffee Point Loma
Curator’s note
One bag out of the twenty-two, a Uganda Bugisu, names its varieties down to SL-14, SL-28 and Bourbon and prints a washed and sun dried process. Somebody at Better Buzz knows exactly how a coffee label should read and has so far written exactly one.
The coffee
Better Buzz roasts in house under a CCOF organic certification, with coffee going out to the stores weekly and Fair Trade and Rainforest Alliance named as the buying aim. The shelf leans on blends, Hangover Blend and Night Sky among them, beside organic origin bags from Peru, Brazil and Chiapas.
The room
Coffee Shop Experts and the Alexis Karpetsky Workshop shaped these 1,350 square feet toward the harbor and the naval station nearby, working blue accents through a room that keeps the company's signature branding otherwise intact. The seating is custom and built in, and it carries on outside, which on the harbor side of the city is the better half of the room.
