Curator’s note

Two best friends built Luxxe on the idea that an espresso bar is a place to stand and talk, and this counter in the 1948 Country Mart is that idea at full strength. No WiFi on purpose, Milo & Olive pastries in the case, and the Mart's courtyards for seating.

  • A standing espresso, Milano style
  • Milo & Olive pastries
  • The 1948 Country Mart courtyards
  • A screen-free half hour

The coffee

The espresso is the house Milanese style, roasted at the brand's own Il Laboratorio in LA, with drip and pour-over brewed by the cup, hot and iced. Custom blended teas and daily Milo & Olive pastries run beside it.

The room borrows its character from its landlord: the red-board Country Mart, a neighborhood landmark since 1948, with the counter opening onto 26th Street. Seating is out in the Mart, which is the point.
