Lofty Coffee
Curator’s note
Lofty started out buying its coffee and its pastries from local producers, then decided it would rather be the roaster and the baker, wanting full control of what reaches the guest. The filter list here still names nothing at all, only an invitation to ask what is on, which for a company this fixed on control is a curious place to stop.
The coffee
Everything is roasted at the company's own Roasting Works in Encinitas, off green sourced from farms, co-ops and importers chosen for sustainable growing and transport. The retail shelf runs organic house blends, Morning Dove and Campfire, beside a Colombia Luminosa V2 in both washed and natural lots, each bag labelled to origin and process and no further.
The room
Outdoor tables, wi-fi that holds up and an open welcome for families put this closer to a neighborhood porch than a tasting bar. Doors open at seven every day and close by three on weekdays, four at the weekend, so whatever else this is, it is a morning room.
