Revolution Roasters
Curator’s note
Miriah Leclerc quit a corporate biotech sales job in 2013 to roast full time, and she built this room for the ones who want to learn what is in the cup as much as for the ones who just want somewhere good to sit. That is an easy thing to say and a hard one to hold for ten years.
The coffee
The roasting happens on a Loring, in a separate Oceanside warehouse the roastery moved to in the summer of 2021, off direct relationships with the farms. Espresso pulls on a Slayer STEAM LP, the house drip is a washed single-origin Colombia and the pour-over rotates through Papua New Guinea and Ethiopia, though every origin stops at the country and the one bagged blend on the menu lists no varietal or roast date.
The room
The interior is an eclectic mix pulled together by the founder's father out of Uncharted Antiques, his shop in Pasadena, down to the boar's head hung over the espresso bar that became the brand's mark. Outside, a colorful 16-foot mural painted in May 2017 by Geoff Gouveia and Taylor Hatch, who still works for Revo, carries the same boar onto the wall.
