Curator’s note
Lumen roasts its own in Azusa, and the retail pages print producer, altitude, process and variety down to a Bolivian Gesha from Antonio Mamani at 1650m. The window itself was a 150-square-foot parking-lot utility enclosure until Breland-Harper rebuilt it and the Haas Brothers clad it in 6,000 handmade tiles fired at Cerámica Suro, a tile count nobody arrives at by accident.
Pour overs are on the Highland Park menu beside espressos and signature drinks.

The coffee
The nine-coffee shelf runs to two Geshas and an anaerobic Sidra, roasted by the founders in Azusa, with producer and altitude printed on every page and no roast date anywhere.

The room
Breland-Harper rebuilt a 150-square-foot enclosure on N Figueroa into an outdoor cafe with Nikolai and Simon Haas, and Interior Design ran the result as Lumen's US debut. Everything reaches you through a service window, because at that footprint there is no inside to stand in.
