Nice Coffee
A Gensler-built courtyard bar, now roasting its own on a 15-kilo machine in Inglewood.
Curator’s note
Nice spent its first years as a beautiful courtyard with coffee in it, and then in 2024 the team started roasting. Four single-origin bags now print farm, producer, village, cultivar, altitude and process, and the Colombia Pink Bourbon carries its lot number and its Auction for Peace reference.
The coffee
Roasting runs on a 15-kilo Mill City machine in Inglewood under head roaster Doug Meils, who came through Intelligentsia, Handsome and Tectonic. Four live single-origin bags ($10 to $26.25) name farm, producer, village, cultivar, altitude and process — the Colombia Pink Bourbon even prints a lot number and its Auction for Peace 2025 reference — though roast dates are not printed anywhere.
Gensler drew the architecture and AIS Industries built the steel, and the room has been open since 2017. It is a courtyard bar rather than a storefront: the counter reads as a built object in an open plaza, not a shop behind glass.
