Curator’s note

Ten years of pouring other people's coffee and never starting a roastery reads as a choice rather than a gap: Steelhead has stayed a guest bar on purpose, and the names coming through it have only gotten better. A rhino on the sign, picked out by a two-year-old, is about as unbranded as specialty coffee gets.

The coffee

A rotating guest-roaster bar with no roasting of its own, pouring Penny and Cat & Cloud in the freshest reporting and Woodcat, Penny and Be Bright in 2023, with no origin or varietal detail published anywhere online.

The best seat in the room is the bar that faces the barista station straight on — the room's one big idea about service. The Aguirres watched this corner while it was still a photography studio, and the rhino they picked for their two-year-old became, in their words, the inspiration for the whole build-out.
