Curator’s note
A small room a block off the sand, next door to a bookstore, with no WiFi on purpose — Luxxe built the anti-laptop beach cafe and gave it its own blend. Chaumont's pastries in the case seal the morning.
The coffee
Milanese-style espresso and pour-overs by the cup from the house Il Laboratorio roast, with the light, sea-air-appropriate Manhattan Beach Blend as this room's signature. Chaumont organic pastries run beside the bar.
The setting is the design: one block from the ocean in the pier's walking district, next to Pages bookstore, with a boutique shelf inside a compact room. Screens are politely starved — there is no WiFi to be had.
