Curator’s note

Bump states its ambition without blinking: to be the most trusted neighborhood coffee brand on the West Coast. Whoever wrote that also put CBD tincture in a coffee cocktail and called it the CBDream, which is the more useful introduction of the two.

The coffee

Bump roasts its own in small batches, and the bar runs batch brew beside a made-to-order single-origin pour-over at $4.50 that takes about four minutes to build, the Mexico lot poured with citrus, chocolate and nut. Sourcing is direct, Nayarit among the origins, though nothing on the label goes deeper than the country.

The room

Small and new, the room runs on a surf-and-simplicity idea: a menu board hand-lettered in black on white, painted surfboard fins framed on the wall, and merch that mostly just says Bump. It sits in plain sight of the road, sharing a patio with Haggo's Tacos next door.
